Aviation plan golden opportunity for Tees Valley

The Governments National Aviation Policy Statement gives Regional airports such as Durham Tees Valley an open invitation to develop plans for connectivity to the nation's proposed expanded hub airport at Heathrow.

Of course our regional airport already has excellent international connectivity by way of its flights into the hub airport at Amsterdam Schiphol which are well used, especially for the business flights of travellers who then connect to markets around the world.

Additional  flights to London from Teesside in their own right will be a terrific boost to the Tees Valley economy as well as adding even greater opportunities for international onwards travel.

The future prosperity of our city region demands first class transport infrastructure. The announcement this week certainly presents our airport with a golden opportunity to make a very considerable step change.

Like many people in the Tees Valley I want to see our airport flourish and will be delighted to work with Peel Holdings and helping them achieve their objectives.
