It was an absolute honour to be invited to unveil a special plaque at James Cook University Hospital.

Recently, the Trust was awarded Veteran Aware Status by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA). VCHA is a group of NHS healthcare providers in England committed to providing the best standards of care for the armed forces community, based on the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.

A Veterans Aware plaque is displayed in the atrium at James Cook and I was delighted to unveil it and chat to Chief Executive Sue Page, Laura Lucas-Hartley, general manager to the chief medical officer’s office, Melonie Adair from the Ministry of Defence and the Hospital’s Charity Team.

Well done everyone involved!
