Andy McDonald MP "Putting Middlesbrough First"
I am greatly honoured to be re-appointed to Labour’s Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Secretary of State for Employment Rights and Protections, by our new Leader Sir Keir Starmer.
“It is an enormous privilege to continue to serve my country and my party. The terms and conditions of working people have never been more important than as now in the midst of this pandemic, from the widespread demand for much needed PPE to construction workers being made redundant and not being furloughed. These are some of the key issues that I intend to pursue straightaway.
“I am humbled by the trust Keir has placed in me and I will faithfully promote his pledge to work shoulder to shoulder with trades unions in order to stand up for working people, tackle insecure work and low pay, repeal the Trade Union Act, and oppose attacks on the right to take industrial action and the weakening of workplace rights.
“Major economic and societal changes will be needed once we emerge from this crisis and none more so than in the world of work. I look forward to working with colleagues in the Parliamentary Labour Party and beyond to shape the changes that our country and its workers need.
