Ormesby Table Tennis Club has a first class reputation not only nationally but also internationally.

It was wonderful to visit the Club, which has more than 100 members, to see the Over 50s session in full swing – I even had a practice under the guidance of one of the coaches who put me through my paces.

They have reduced the number of tables to comply with Covid regulations but the atmosphere was still buzzing as club members took to the tables.

Fantastic to chat to Chairman Alan Ransome about the Club’s history – the photograph behind us in the picture shows them being crowned European Club Cup Champions in 1972 and they still have a huge presence internationally.

A huge sporting success here in Middlesbrough.
