My visit today to meet Zareen Smith, Local Director at HSBC Bank in Middlesbrough town centre was fascinating. They have launched Safe Spaces in all their branches so anyone who is experiencing domestic abuse can walk into the branch and seek specialist support and advice.

We know the levels of domestic abuse are sadly significant with one in four women and one in six men experiencing domestic abuse in their lifetimes.

Now, specialist training has been delivered to more than 4,000 HSBC employees across the country. Speaking to Zareen it was reassuring to hear of this initiative here in the constituency and if it can help anyone suffering domestic abuse get the help and support they need it will be hugely welcome.
